Pakistan writes letter to UK over BBC report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has written a letter to the British government over a BBC report that claimed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was receiving Indian funding.

The letter that was written by the Foreign Office with the approval of Pakistan’s Interior Ministry sought details of alleged confessions made by some MQM leaders about Indian funding.

The letter noted that BBC’s revelations were a cause of great concern for Pakistan. On Thursday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has invited UK High Commissioner to discuss the BBC report.Foreign Ministry wrote the letter to British authorities on the directives of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. FO Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah said that the allegations leveled against MQM in the BBC report is a cause of concern for Pakistan. The letter sought details of alleged confessions made by some MQM leaders about Indian funding.

The letter seeks help of British government in reaching bottom of the facts about anti-State relationship between MQM and Indian Agency RAW.

According to sources, the letter has written to British government in order to clarify the allegations put on MQM in the report.

The said letter was written after the approval of Interior Ministry of Pakistan, said Foreign Office.

Earlier, BBC issued a report two days ago claiming that MQM, the political party of Pakistan, has been taking Indian funding and training to operate in Pakistan.

According to sources, the letter has written to British government in order to clarify the allegations put on MQM in the report.

The said letter was written after the approval of Interior Ministry of Pakistan, said Foreign Office.

Earlier, BBC issued a report two days ago claiming that MQM, the political party of Pakistan, has been taking Indian funding and training to operate in Pakistan.
